Irene Sotiropoulou is a PhD candidate at the Department of Economics of the University of Crete since February 2009. She has graduated from the Law School of National&Capodistrian University of Athens (NCUA) (1996-2000) and she holds a MSc degree in International &European Studies at the Department of Politics&Public Administration of the NCUA too (2000-2002) as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Economics at the University of Manchester (2002-2003). Her PhD dissertation is titled "Exchange networks and parallel currencies: Theoretical approaches and the case of Greece" and consists of both theoretical study and field research. At this moment her PhD thesis has been concluded and it is under the examination process.
