Irene Sotiropoulou is a researcher and holds a PhD (2012) in Economics awarded by the University of Crete for her dissertation titled "Exchange networks and parallel currencies: Theoretical approaches and the case of Greece". She has graduated from the Law School of National & Capodistrian University of Athens (NCUA) (1996-2000) and she holds a MSc degree in International & European Studies at the Department of Politics & Public Administration of the NCUA too (2000-2002) as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Economics at the University of Manchester (2002-2003). Currently, apart from being a student at the Department of Turkish & Contemporary Asian Studies of the NCU (2009-today), she is working for a research project at the Athens Labour Institute.
